***Special Bulletin***

I got a tech support tip for people with wireless networks. You have your wireless router/hub all set up and everything is going great for a week or two when inexplicably your connection goes down. Now, your hardwired connection to the Internet is still working but your wireless is down... Don't Panic!

This is a common problem. The first thing to try is to restart your computer. Sometimes that is all it takes to regain your lost connection, but let's say that doesn't work, maybe the problem really is with your router/hub. Once again don't panic. Go to your wireless router/hub and unplug it. Leave it unplugged for up to thirty seconds then plug it back in. 99% of the time that's all it takes to restore my wireless connection.

I hope this has been helpful. If it hasn't you can always try tech support for your specific hardware.

So, in that respect a hub works similar to your dish equipment for satelite TV ... That's a cool thing to know. We've had issues with our wireless computers. It's made it terribly inconvenient. But the thing with us is that we don't have a hub and were using an unsecured network for access when all of a sudden our access was denied.

All I can think of is that maybe the unsecured network was actually for an individual and not for public use (even though it said public when I would log on). So at this point we're looking into the hardware we'd need to set up a network through our phone lines in the house. If we set it up this way then we'd also be able to include the third computer we have upstairs. So then all three (main computer, game computer, and laptop) will all have the same internet access on one plan without the added expense.

It will cost a little to get the additional equipment we'll need, but for the convenience of being able to plug in virtually anywhere in the house (for the laptop) and to be able to include the other computer, it's worth it for right now.

We may get a wireless hub in the future but at this moment in time it's not an option we're going to be able to go with. One stepping stone at a time! LOL
